There are several routes into resources and mining.  

1) Enter via a trade apprenticeship i.e. heavy duty mechanic, millwright, electrician, welder etc.  

2) Enter via the technical discipline you wish to pursue. Typically this involves post-secondary study followed by the pursuit of a designation. i.e. P.Eng for engineers.   

3) Enter via operations, where typically a high school diploma & relevant license is the minimum requirement – haul truck drivers or heavy equipment operators etc.
