Newly established Senior Accountant role within a long-standing finance team in the non-profit sector

Your new role
Responsible for financial and management reporting functions, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, audited statements, and filings.
Acts as a secondary contact with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepares workflow charts and documents for finance processes.
Assists with budgeting, planning, and audit preparation.
Handles financial analysis, including dashboards, graphs, reconciliations, and statement reviews.
Provides backup support for payroll and accounts payable.
Recommends and implements effective financial systems, internal controls, policies, and process improvements.
Collaborates with leadership to provide financial management reporting and support on strategic projects.
Manages fund accounting processes, ensuring proper disbursement of donated funds.
Prepares forecasts, key performance metrics, business plans/budgets, and variance reports.
Monitors the finance and admin expense budget
What you'll need to succeed
Formal Education in Accounting & Finance
CPA qualification
10+ years of experience - can be a combination of education & experience
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of accounting principles, including a deep understanding of GAAP.
Advanced knowledge of forecasting and budgeting principles and practice.
Advanced proficiency with accounting/analysis tools, accounting systems and
databases such as Excel, Word, Access, FinancialEdge, or other ERP systemAbility to effectively manage multiple priorities, projects, and activities
Understand business processes and their implications.
Prepare financial statements with precision and attention to detail.
Exhibit excellent business and financial acumen.
Identify issues and adeptly apply accounting policies.
Effectively communicate recommendations to a diverse audience.
Foster a culture of teamwork within and across departments.
Work collaboratively to achieve optimal collective results.
Experience in a not-for-profit environment or with fund accounting is a strong asset.
