Your new company

Our client is a leading developer, owner and operator of commercial, residential, and mixed-use real estate properties located across Canada. As a full-service provider, they manage every aspect of the development process including due diligence, acquisition, land-use planning, construction, leasing, and day-to-day property management. Due to growth and expansion of our portfolio, they have an immediate opening for an experienced Property Accountant to join their Montreal office.

Your new role

Reporting to the V.P. Finance, the Property Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the daily accounting records of revenue-generating properties for an assigned portfolio, as well as other projects as assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintaining the day-to-day accounting records for a portfolio of properties;
  • Complete quarterly and yearly preparation & reporting of property financials including balance sheet and income statement;
  • The preparation of year-end financial reporting packages;
  • Accounting for sale transactions and new property acquisitions;
  • Accounting for financing transactions, including construction draws and new debt agreements;
  • Government filings for GST/QST;
  • Identify process improvement opportunities as well as the development and implementation of process solutions.
  • Assist the VP Finance and Director of Finance with special projects as required

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in public accounting and an understanding of the real estate industry is considered an asset but not essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • A strong understanding of accounting systems and software, experience using Spectra, Simply Accounting and Building Stack is an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • A team player who can develop and sustain cooperative working relationships
