A boutique architectural practice specializing in residential, hospitality and commercial projects is looking for an Interior Designer to join their team. Led by a multidisciplinary principal in the Calgary core.
Your new role
In your role, you will be responsible for collaborating with clients and the design team to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. You will be responsible for all stages of the design process, from conceptualization to project completion. You will advise clients on space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, interior finish selections and coordination, review details of technical drawings or specifications and review of shop drawings during construction for compliance with working drawings. You will coordinate and collaborate with other professionals, such as contractors, architects, engineers, and trades involved in the project. Estimate project budget costs for use during Design Development, present design alternatives and solutions to client for approval, render design ideas in form of paste-ups or drawings and produce construction documents. Guidance and mentorship to Junior Designers is a key piece to this role as it has growth potential for the future to mould into something more senior.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of Interiors in Canada and a strong understanding of the local building codes in Calgary. Intermediate and senior level candidates will be considered. Registered Interior Designer with the AAA or have an NCIDQ Certification is a major asset but not required. You will have a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Interior Design program. You must have proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office and various Design software/programs. The successful candidate has a strong design portfolio showcasing a range of project types and styles and is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Critical thinking skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
What you'll get in return
