Powell River itself has a rich history, originally established as a company town in 1910 by the Powell River Company, which built one of the world’s largest pulp and paper mills. The town was preplanned with a focus on livability, incorporating green spaces and well-designed residential areas. Over time, commercial developments like Powell River Town Centre emerged to support the growing population and local economy.
Today, the Town Centre covers in excess of 35 acres and well over 300,000 square feet of retail.

This includes
over 40 stores, including major retailers like Winners, Canadian Tire, Walmart, Save-On-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, Starbucks, Staples, Rona, and more. It houses the Town Centre Hotel and TC’s Pub, making it a key destination for both shopping and hospitality in the region.
It also includes 2 residential buildings with 84 rental apartments.

Your new role

We are looking for a strategic and results-driven General Manager to lead Powell River Town Centre (PRTC), overseeing mall operations, tenant relations, financial management, commercial leasing, and capital upgrades. This role requires a dynamic leader committed to maintaining a thriving retail destination, ensuring seamless operations across leasing, maintenance, security, and customer service. You will cultivate strong tenant relationships, optimize financial performance, and drive marketing initiatives to enhance community engagement. Additionally, you will assist in commercial leasing efforts, securing new tenants and fostering business growth. Leading a professional team, you will foster a positive work culture while ensuring the facility remains safe, clean, and well-maintained. You will also spearhead capital upgrades and oversee management of 84 residential apartments.

What you need to succeed

As a successful retail or mall manager, you possess strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. You are adept at handling multiple tasks efficiently and have experience in budgeting, financial management, and marketing strategy implementation. Familiarity with property management software and knowledge of local laws and regulations related to retail and residential properties are essential. Your proven track record of driving profitability, analyzing business data, and maintaining a customer service-oriented approach is highly valued. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is important, and prior experience in retail or mall management is considered an asset. The role requires flexibility, including availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure smooth operations.
