Seeking an Estimator with Controls/HVAC experience

Your new company

Our client is a long-standing provider of smart home tech, HVAC controls, and building automation solutions, working with clients across British Columbia and beyond. For decades they have been helping create commercial spaces, from hotels to upscale residential buildings and specialized facilities like labs and healthcare centers. The focus is on blending innovation with practical solutions that make everyday environments smarter and more sustainable.

Your new role

The Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for both new construction and service projects. You’ll work closely with the sales team, PMO, and service department to define project scope, estimate costs, assess risks, and help shape early project plans. This includes supporting bids, proposals, and pricing strategies, as well as handing off successful projects to the delivery team. You’ll also help with change orders and service contract estimates, ensuring everything is accurate and competitive. The role involves collaborating with suppliers, contractors, and customers to clarify scope, negotiate pricing, and provide technical input. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, juggling multiple deadlines, and paying close attention to technical and contractual details. Strong analytical skills, familiarity with Microsoft tools (especially Excel and Visio), and the ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings are key. You’ll also support a positive team culture and contribute to continuous improvement in how we estimate and win work.

What you'll need to succeed

We're looking for someone with a background as an Engineer, DDC Technician, or Controls Electrician—someone who knows the field and can hit the ground running. You should be great at managing your time, staying organized, and juggling multiple tasks without getting overwhelmed. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must, along with a sharp eye for detail. You’re comfortable working independently but also know when to collaborate with the team, whether in the field or the office. You’re confident making decisions on your own but open to input when needed. A creative mindset and a willingness to suggest improvements are always welcome. Solid computer skills are essential, especially in a fast-paced environment where things move quickly and priorities shift often.

What you'll get in return

In this role, you’ll enjoy a competitive base salary ranging from $70K- $90K + Bonus, comprehensive benefits package that includes extended health coverage and paid vacation. You’ll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that values innovation, supports professional growth, and offers a healthy balance of autonomy and mentorship.
