Devops Engineer | 1-Year CONTRACT

Role: DevOps Engineer
Working organization: Hybrid (10 days in the office)
Contract: July+ 1-YEAR contract
Location: Ottawa


Your New Company
A leading Canadian institution is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer
to join its Information Technology Services (ITS) team. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Ottawa, requiring 10 days per month on-site. The position offers a one-year contract with the possibility of extension for up to two additional years.


Your New Role
As a DevOps Engineer, you will work under the direction of the Assistant Director, Automation Tools and Compute Services. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and managing infrastructure as code using Terraform
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps
  • Automating cloud resource provisioning and configuration
  • Managing multiple environments (dev, test, prod)
  • Supporting cloud migration efforts to Microsoft Azure
  • Designing and deploying containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift
  • Managing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container registries
  • Utilizing GitHub for version control and JIRA for Agile project tracking
  • Documenting systems and processes in Confluence
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure


What You'll Need to Succeed
  • A university degree or college diploma in business administration or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Azure DevOps
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, GitHub, JIRA, and Confluence
  • Ability to obtain Secret-level security clearance (must have resided in Canada for the past 5 years)
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (as per policy)
  • A personal laptop and smartphone meeting technical requirements for remote access


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400)
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Experience with cloud migrations and knowledge of cloud networking and security
