A well-established and highly respected boutique law firm in downtown Toronto is seeking an experienced Insurance Defence Law Clerk
to join their collaborative legal team. Known for their commitment to excellence and a supportive work environment, this firm offers a dynamic opportunity for legal professionals looking to grow their careers in a hybrid setting.
Your new role
- Preparing and drafting legal documents including pleadings, affidavits of documents, motion records, mediation briefs, and settlement documentation
- Managing files from intake through to resolution, including trial preparation and post-trial follow-up
- Conducting legal research and summarizing findings for counsel
- Reviewing and analyzing medical records, accident benefits files, and expert reports
- Coordinating examinations for discovery, mediations, pre-trials, and trials
- Liaising with clients, adjusters, experts, and opposing counsel to facilitate file progression
- Maintaining accurate and timely dockets using PC Law
- Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic litigation files
- Monitoring court deadlines and ensuring compliance with procedural timelines
- Supporting billing processes and preparing accounts for review
What you'll need to succeed
- 2–5 years of experience as a Law Clerk in insurance defence litigation
- Candidates with plaintiff-side experience are also encouraged to apply
- Proficiency with PC Law and Worldox document management software
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage a docket target of 1200–1300 hours per year, depending on experience
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach to legal support
