Hays Civil Construction team in Ontario have partnered with our client to hire an experienced Project Manager in Guelph.
Your new Company
The company brings over 30 years of experience in Water and Wastewater Construction across Canada. Due to continued growth and a new design/ build project, the team is excited to hire an experienced Project Manager.
Your new Role
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall health, wealth and safety of the project. Your day-to-day job will consist of the following: create a team for the project to successfully execute the goals by understanding each team member’s strengths and weaknesses. Making sure that the team comes together and works effectively and efficiently; In consultation with the chosen HSE officer, the project-specific safety site plan for the project; the project-specific schedule; choosing which approach is best for the project; an awards list with what your goals are and what you want achieved specific to each award. This includes timelines set which are realistic and achievable; RFI log and system for the project; The maintenance of the equipment control log.; The operations and maintenance manuals; The corresponding schedules; The spare parts lists and salvaged equipment lists; The owner communications, training plan, schedules and appropriate sign off documentation; The quality control program that meets the requirement of the specific project; For the cost control program specific to the project to address: Reviewing of the estimate, identifying specific areas for improving project margin(s), Quarterly forecasts, Bi-weekly meetings with Project and Trade Superintendents and Foreman, Month cost tracking, Creation of goals and tracking for each member of your team (Project Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Trades Superintendents, supervisors and project coordinators); Project Close Out; substantial completion, total completion and warranty call systems; Recommend changes in the scope of work by envisioning problems, alternatives, to drive success and to increase profits; Accountable for the project team member’s work program including the monitoring of the project coordinators, HSE officers and supervisor’s responsibilities; The CPM schedule must be maintained and checked for accuracy throughout the project; Ensure a good working relationship with all subcontractors, suppliers and vendors; Responsible for a good working relationship with our workers and any related unions including the ability to set a high standard for productivity and quality; Closely monitor the efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists.
What you’ll need to Succeed
To succeed as the Project Manager, you will bring a construction-related degree/diploma and 10 years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience. Experience working on Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant projects is an asset. Proven Project Management experience. Experience with facility commissioning/automation and closeout is an asset. Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, planning, cost control and engineering drawings. Project management certification is an asset. Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods. Intuitive grasp of organizational structure to manage cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation. Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolution skills. Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper management. Strong knowledge of financial management and internal controls. Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
