A global pharmaceutical company in Langley is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.

Your new role

  • Process and record daily financial transactions, including AP / AR invoices and employee expenses.
  • Initiate and monitor timely payments of AP invoices and employee reimbursements.
  • Maintain, reconcile, and validate entries and balances of the general ledger (GL) and business partner accounts.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances regularly and ensure the accuracy of related entries.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
  • Execute monthly closing activities and finalize accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Prepare and analyze GL reports, business partner aging reports, and other account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and report monthly financial as per local and group reporting requirements.
  • Respond to stakeholder queries and provide supporting analysis and detail as needed.
  • Enter monthly financials and supporting schedules into designated group platforms.
  • Prepare and manage cash flow.
  • Support preparation of annual Opex and Capex budgets and regular Rolling Forecasts (RF).
  • Enter budgets (OB) and RFs into group platforms as per group instructions.
  • Monitor actuals against budget/forecast and provide variance commentary.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and cost centers to fulfill local and group requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with policies, regulations, SOX and internal controls.
  • Stay current with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory changes.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required reports and details.
  • Liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders across the group.
  • Participate actively in calls and meetings, presenting financial data and insights.
  • Provide financial support to senior management and other stakeholders as required.
  • Utilize ERP and financial management systems to enhance data accuracy and process efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement of different processes.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks and analyses as assigned by the Senior Finance Manager.
  • Support the team particularly on peak reporting periods and special projects.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualifications are a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience as a senior accountant in preparing and analyzing financial statements and GL reconciliations.
  • Experience in a group structure and multi-entity environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles with a solid understanding of
    US GAAP.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian tax regulations, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and financial management systems. Experience in SAP Hana is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining financial records & providing reports.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to think outside the box and be part of the change and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications

What you'll get in return

You will get a competitive package: $80,000k - $95,000k depending on experience. 3 weeks vacation, benefits etc.
