Your new role

The Intermediate Accountant plays a key role in the financial operations of the holding corporation, supporting the preparation of consolidated financial statements, maintaining general ledger integrity, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This position requires a strong understanding of intercompany transactions, multi-entity accounting, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Consolidation
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and ensure proper elimination of entries.
  • Support the preparation of management reports and financial analysis for executive leadership.
2. General Ledger & Month-End Close
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for the parent company and subsidiaries.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial data entry and reporting.
3. Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE accounting standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to inquiries.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls.
4. Intercompany Transactions
  • Record and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities.
  • Coordinate with subsidiary accountants to ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting.
5. Tax & Regulatory Support
  • Assist with tax filings, including sales tax, corporate tax, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for tax audits and compliance reviews.
6. Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in system upgrades, automation projects, and policy development.

What you'll need to succeed

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation (or working toward it) is an asset.
Experience:
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or holding company environment.
  • Experience with financial consolidation and intercompany accounting.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong Microsoft & Dynamics Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ASPE.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
