A reputable and growing construction company dedicated to delivering high-quality Institutional, Commercial, Industrial, and Water/Wastewater projects in the Ottawa area is now seeking a Site Superintendent with local greenfield experience.

Your new role

As a Senior Site Superintendent, you will be a pivotal leader on our construction sites. Accountable for all on-site planning and controls, you will direct and coordinate the work of both subcontractors and our own skilled workforce. Your day-to-day leadership will be instrumental in managing the construction site, ensuring the safe and consistent execution of field operations within established timeframes and budgets. Your ultimate goal will be to contribute to the continued and sustainable growth of the company by successfully delivering exceptional projects.

  • Providing unwavering safety leadership on site through the strict implementation and enforcement of safety programs, diligently monitoring the safety performance of all subcontractors and personnel
  • Expertly planning, scheduling, and controlling all daily on-site activities to maintain project momentum and efficiency
  • Rigorous quality assurance, ensuring that all subcontractors' workmanship and building materials meet the highest standards and project specifications
  • Strategic manpower management, guaranteeing sufficient personnel are available to achieve all safety, schedule, and quality objectives
  • Proactive project budget management and accurate billing procedures
  • Efficient oversight of contract administration, including RFIs, Submittals, and Change Orders
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong, positive relationships and clear communication channels with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors

What you'll need to succeed

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of local progressive experience in Institutional, Commercial, Industrial, and/or Water/Wastewater construction
  • A professional engineering designation or a college degree in a construction-related program, or a proven background in a construction trade. Gold Seal Certification will be considered a significant asset
  • Demonstrated success in a general contracting environment within the construction industry
  • Significant experience in the direct site supervision of Institutional, Commercial, Industrial, and/or Water/Wastewater construction projects with values ranging from $1 million to $10 million
  • Exceptional leadership, motivational, and mentoring abilities to guide and inspire site teams
  • Strong supervisory, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage site operations and challenges
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French (both oral and written) to facilitate clear and effective interaction with diverse stakeholders
  • A strong service and results-oriented approach with a commitment to exceeding expectations
  • The ability to expertly read, understand, and interpret complex contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules
  • Eligibility for security clearances and a valid driver’s license
  • Superior working knowledge of the MS Office suite and other construction software(s)
