Hays has partnered with a mid-size architecture firm with over 40 years of experience in Edmonton, known for its diverse project experience, who are looking for an Interior Designer. They have worked on multi-million dollar projects; Mixed-Use, Commercial Retail, Interiors, Corporate, Industrial, Seniors Housing, Government, Institutional, and Religious projects. With a fresh new perspective on architecture and a recent rebranding, the firm is passionate about taking bold moves with its design. They value the social spaces they create and are looking for like-minded individuals that can help propel the architecture industry in Edmonton and expand into BC.

Your new role

In this job you will be working with clients to determine their needs and coordinate construction-specific details. You advise clients on space planning, layout, and the use of furnishings or equipment, as well as interior finish selections and coordination. You detail custom millwork pieces for construction plans and review technical drawings or specifications. During construction, you review shop drawings for compliance with working drawings. You coordinate with other professionals, such as contractors, architects, engineers, and trades. You estimate project budget costs for use during Design Development and present design alternatives and solutions to clients for approval. You render design ideas in the form of paste-ups or drawings and create detailed or technical illustrations. You use computer-aided drafting (CAD) and related software to produce construction documents. Additionally, you provide guidance and mentorship to Junior Designers. This is an on-site role with flexible working hours.


What you'll need to succeed

You will hold a Diploma in Interior Design from an accredited institution and have over four years of experience in the field. You are proficient in Revit, SketchUp, and AutoCAD, and have worked on a variety of projects, with extensive experience in institutional design. Your background includes preparing construction drawings and specifications. You are hardworking, with strong attention to detail, and possess excellent graphic communication and presentation skills.
