Your new role
The Technical Lead serves as a cross-project technical expert, a “floater” leader who supports multiple teams across the studio. This role ensures consistency and excellence in document production, QA/QC, drawing standards, and BIM templates across multiple projects.
The Technical Lead provides technical guidance, training, and quality oversight to project teams, collaborating closely with Project Managers and Design Leads. By bridging design intent with constructability, the Technical Lead drives efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across all deliverables, elevating the firm’s overall technical capability and production standards. The Technical Lead reports to the VP of Design and Delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead technical production and documentation processes across all projects.
- Establish and maintain Revit standards, drawing templates, and BIM protocols.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with design intent.
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, ensuring constructability and coordination across disciplines.
- Support Project Managers in planning technical resources and delivery strategies.
Mentorship & Knowledge Development
- Coach and mentor Technologists and Designers to strengthen technical depth and production efficiency.
- Deliver Revit and BIM training sessions to promote consistent, high-quality modeling and documentation.
- Maintain and update firm-wide technical resources, templates, and best practices.
- Encourage knowledge-sharing and peer learning within the technical team.
Process & Quality Improvement
- Lead initiatives that improve documentation workflows, reduce rework, and enhance coordination between teams.
- Conduct post-project technical reviews and document lessons learned.
- Support the development of firm-wide QA/QC processes, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers and Design Leads to align design intent with constructability.
- Support multiple project teams concurrently, providing proactive technical oversight.
- Coordinate with consultants and contractors to resolve detailing, constructability, and documentation issues.
Innovation & Standards
- Champion BIM innovation, digital transformation, and integration of new tools or technologies.
- Contribute to sustainability and code compliance through efficient and accurate documentation.
- Maintain awareness of evolving industry standards, materials, and construction methods, and share insights with the team.
Qualifications
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in architectural technical delivery and documentation.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM environments.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, assemblies, and detailing standards.
- Proven experience leading QA/QC reviews and managing technical standards across teams.
- Diploma or Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology

- Consistency, accuracy, and quality of technical documentation across all projects.
- Reduction in coordination issues, RFIs, and rework during construction.
- Demonstrated mentorship impact and skill development among junior/intermediate team members.
- Implementation and adherence to firm-wide Revit and BIM standards with measurable improvement.
- Positive feedback from Project Managers and Design Leads on technical support and collaboration.
