Your new company
Our client is a leading architectural firm known for its innovative and sustainable design solutions, operating across multiple sectors including multifamily residential, commercial, and hospitality, with offices across Canada. They are looking to appoint a Studio Manager to lead their Multifamily Residential studio in Calgary. This is a key leadership opportunity within a well-established and highly regarded firm recognized for its creative approach, use of cutting-edge technology, and strong design methodologies.
Your new role
In this role, you will be responsible for the overall performance and success of the residential studio, leading a team of 15+ architectural professionals. You will oversee project delivery, operations, client relationships, and team development, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to a high technical standard. Your responsibilities will include managing studio workloads and resourcing, establishing and monitoring project budgets and schedules, and ensuring strong financial and operational performance. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to maintain design quality and technical excellence while providing guidance on building systems, codes, and construction methodologies specific to multifamily residential projects. In addition, you will play a key role in client management and business development, supporting proposals, presentations, and long-term relationship growth within the developer community. From a leadership perspective, you will mentor and develop your team, oversee performance reviews, and drive a collaborative and high-performing studio culture.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring 10–15+ years of architectural experience, with a strong focus on multifamily residential projects. You will have proven leadership experience managing and mentoring larger teams and a track record of overseeing complex project delivery. You will demonstrate strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methodologies, along with the ability to guide teams through technical challenges. A solid understanding of project financials, resource planning, and studio operations is essential. A degree in Architecture (or related field) is required, and registration (or eligibility) with a professional association is considered an asset. Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills are critical to success in this role.
What you'll get in return
The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive compensation package, including a base salary starting at $120K+ (dependent on experience) + bonus, along with benefits and RSP. This is a rare opportunity to step into a true leadership role, with full ownership over a studio’s people, projects, and performance. You will have the autonomy to shape studio direction, influence business decisions, and play a key role in the firm’s continued growth.
