Structural Industrial Engineer

HAYS Recruitment is proud to partner with one of our outstanding clients to recruit for an experienced Industrial Structural Engineer.

Our client is a leading engineering consulting firm specializing in industrial infrastructure and heavy construction projects. They are seeking a technically strong and collaborative engineer to join their team and contribute to the design and execution of complex industrial facilities, including heavy equipment foundations, manufacturing plants, and processing facilities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional looking to work on impactful projects across British Columbia.

Your Role:

  • Design and analyze structural systems for industrial facilities using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • Develop structural solutions for heavy equipment foundations, dynamic loads, and seismic conditions.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with design intent, safety standards, and applicable codes.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction teams with technical guidance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal technical development.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a P. Eng. in British Columbia.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering or heavy industrial structural design, preferably within a consulting environment.
  • Proven experience with industrial projects across BC, including heavy equipment foundations, dynamic analysis, seismic design.
  • Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Revit, AutoCAD).
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written).
  • Strong technical competence and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
