HAYS Recruitment is excited to partner with a top-tier client in the search for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join their Kelowna Team.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Civil Engineer specializing in bridge design to lead complex infrastructure projects and contribute to the growth of our client's structural team. This role is ideal for a senior-level professional with strong leadership skills, a collaborative mindset, and deep expertise in bridge engineering and construction.

About the Opportunity:
Our client is a well-established engineering consulting firm specializing in commercial and industrial projects. They are currently seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join their team and contribute to the design and delivery of complex commercial developments. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects involving heavy industrial structures, equipment foundations, and seismic design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform structural analysis and design for commercial buildings using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments to support construction and ensure compliance with design intent and codes.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support junior engineers and drafters with technical oversight and mentorship.
Your Profile:

  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a P. Eng. In BC
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering or heavy industrial structural design, preferably within a consulting environment.
  • Experience with: Heavy equipment foundations, dynamic analysis, seismic design, national building codes and standards
  • Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD. Pro, Revit, AutoCAD).
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written).
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong technical competence and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
