Hays has partnered with an established firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver who are looking for a Senior Project Architect to join their growing Calgary studio. Your new role
In your role, you will be leading complex projects for post‑secondary institutions, government agencies, and public infrastructure clients, ensuring compliance with public‑sector procurement frameworks, regulatory approvals, and campus planning requirements. You will manage projects from concept through construction, maintaining design quality, technical accuracy, budgets, and schedules while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and overseeing construction administration. This role will build strong relationships with institutional clients, consultants, and stakeholders; delivers presentations and approvals to governance groups; and supports engagement with faculty, students, and community representatives. You will provide design leadership aligned with sustainability, accessibility, and universal design standards, develop durable and efficient building system strategies, mentor staff, and guide high‑quality documentation for public‑sector procurement models. Additionally you will support team development in the office and business development across institutional and post‑secondary markets.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years of experience and be registered with AAA or similar. You will have a Bachelors or Master’s in architecture from an accredited college or university. Ideally you will have previous experience working on various project types including post-secondary, recreational, community & first nations. Experience in sustainable design/ LEED AP & working with first nations communities is a strong asset. You will have demonstrated project leadership, mentorship and business development experience.
What you'll get in return
The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package $110,000 - $130,000 (depending on experience) + bonus, extended benefits & health spending, 4 weeks’ vacation and continuing education allowance.
