Hays Civil Construction is partnered with our client, a leader in the Heavy Civil Construction industry as they continue to grow, to hire a Senior Civil Superintendent — Bridges.

Your new Company The business brings over 100 years of experience in the construction industry globally and has developed itself in the Canadian marketplace as a leader over the last 30 years. Due to continued growth specifically in the Ontario Civil Infrastructure market, they are excited to welcome aboard an experienced Senior Civil Superintendent to join them on a very large-scale complex project in Toronto.

Your new Role

As the Senior Civil Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to lead and influence jobsite safety culture, and drive project execution. Your day-to-day responsibilities will be as follows: work with the Senior Project Manager to ensure implementation of the company’s safety program, including integrating the safety program into all site plans and procedures and adhering to all safety and record-keeping requirements; supervise, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team including direct and indirect reports; Effectively communicates with own forces and trades and ensures that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met; Consistently collaborates with construction and project teams. Proactively manages potential problems, work interference, and schedule conflicts and setbacks; liaises between field engineers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications; liaises with clients, other site contractors, union and labour relations, and site and office representatives; Visualize an entire project; plans, and creates the complete project schedule, identifies the critical path, and anticipates constructibility issues; Creates, maintains, and executes the project plan and schedule, and ensures compliance with budget and quality; Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts and develops a plan that identifies and mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities to ensure that all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability levels are met; Maintains project administration correspondence and complies with documentation requirements; Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.

What you’ll need to Succeed

To succeed as the Senior Civil Superintendent, you will bring 15+ years of established Civil Construction experience, and 10+ years' experience as a superintendent. You must have very solid bridge building experience. In-depth understanding of construction procedures and materials. Knowledge and understanding of federal and provincial Health and Safety Regulations. Ability to read blueprints, structural drawings and plan sets. Advanced understanding of risk management and mitigation. You will be a forward-thinking leader who is excited to work alongside a reputable business and team.
