Your new company

We have partnered with a property management company located in Downton Toronto and they're on the hunt for a Senior Accountant for a 6 month contract with potential for extension/ permanency.

Your new role

  • Answer escalated questions regarding various accounting issues and reports.
  • Review the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.
  • Evaluate various complex accounting variances, reports, and records. Make recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • Maintain, record, and reconcile billings and accounts receivables for large clients, markets, or accounts.
  • Create month-end accounting entries.
  • Reconcile discrepancies and posts to the general ledger.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Check transactions from the subsystem to ensure data is accurately sent.
  • Examine financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and fundamentals.
  • Apply general knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish assigned tasks and solve routine problems.
  • Have a broad knowledge of own job discipline and some knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Impact the quality of own work and the work of others on the team.
  • Work primarily within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Explain complex information to others in straightforward situations.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher, with up to 3 years of relevant experience is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Yardi experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, exponents, and other financial-related calculations.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.
  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Enrollment in the CPA program is an asset.
