Remote commercial / retail property management opportunity in the Okanagan!

Your New Company
Join a well‑established real estate owner‑operator with a strong and varied retail portfolio throughout BC’s Interior. This group is recognized for its solid operations, strong tenant partnerships, and genuine commitment to environmental responsibility. You’ll be part of a supportive Operations team that values professionalism, accountability, and a true sense of ownership in the work.

Your New Role
Reporting to the Regional Director, Property Management, you will oversee the day‑to‑day operations, maintenance, tenant relations, budgeting, and contractor management for a multi‑site retail portfolio across the Interior (Vernon, Kelowna, Salmon Arm, Kamloops), with periodic remote travel to an additional property in Prince George.

You are responsible for ensuring all sites operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company standards. This includes completing regular property inspections, leading vendor performance, managing budgets, resolving tenant issues, and providing comprehensive reporting to ownership and senior leadership. The role requires 24/7 availability for emergencies and a strong orientation toward service, responsiveness, and value creation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide detailed reporting to ownership and the executive team on property conditions, tenant matters, and operational performance.
  • Conduct regular physical inspections to ensure properties meet operational and presentation standards.
  • Manage contractors and service providers, ensuring delivery, quality, and adherence to contract obligations.
  • Build strong tenant relationships that support satisfaction, retention, and occupancy levels.
  • Ensure timely inspections for all equipment, utilities, and services; address deficiencies promptly.
  • Manage purchase orders, review invoices, and track work completion.
  • Respond to tenant concerns with urgency and professionalism, ensuring effective resolution.
  • Monitor lease maturities and changes to optimize asset performance.
  • Assist with collections, tenant sales reporting, and insurance compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Leasing, Construction, Accounting) to support renewals, assignments, billings, and tenant fit‑outs.
  • Drive cost savings and revenue opportunities through operational efficiencies, technology adoption, sustainable practices, and contractor value.
  • Manage tendering processes for operational services and contracts.
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust annual property budgets; review and approve all expenses.
  • Analyze monthly variance reports and work with leadership to maintain fiscal targets.
  • Coordinate insurance and legal documentation relating to incidents or claims.
  • Liaise with Accounting on CAM reconciliations and other financial items.
  • Foster strong relationships with tenants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

What You Need to Succeed
You bring a bachelor’s degree or relevant industry designation, or equivalent hands‑on experience, and at least four years managing commercial or retail properties. You’re organized, able to juggle shifting priorities, and comfortable communicating with people at every level. You work independently, stay motivated, and look for solutions rather than roadblocks. You know how to read leases, contracts, and financial documents, and you understand tenant needs and the realities of retail operations. You can lead and hold contractors accountable, and you approach your work with professionalism, good judgement, and an entrepreneurial mindset. You collaborate well with others, build strong relationships, and you’re able to travel throughout the Interior and to Prince George when needed. Whilst this is a remote role, you must have a home base in Interior BC.

What You Get in Return
You’ll be joining an organization that trusts you to take the lead on a dynamic retail portfolio and make a real impact on asset performance, tenant relationships, and day‑to‑day operations. The leadership team encourages fresh ideas, accountability, and continuous improvement, and you’ll be part of a culture built on respect, professionalism, creativity, and doing the right thing. As an employer committed to accessibility, inclusion, and fair hiring practices, they offer a competitive salary of $80,000–$115,000, three weeks of vacation, extended health benefits, bonus potential, and mileage reimbursement - all within a fully remote role that gives you genuine flexibility and autonomy.
