Our client, a start-up real estate development and property management company, is seeking to fill the role of property accountant. This is an exciting time to join a growing team to support the director of finance in realizing their strategic financial objectives.

Your new role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the property accountant will be responsible for ensuring the daily accounting operations and overall financial integrity of the companies' properties and development projects:

• Process transactions: rent payments, expenses, vendor invoices, chargebacks, monthly fees.
• Reconcile cash receipts and disbursements.
• Integrate new tenants into Yardi and optimize its features.
• Reconcile bank statements.
• Update financial records.
• Maintain cashflow and advise on shortages.
• Assist with administrative tasks.
• Prepare and review financial statements and operating budgets.
• Analyze financial performance and variances.
• Reconcile general ledger and intercompany accounts.
• Produce GST-QST reports.
• Prepare annual financial statements and tax returns.
• Coordinate external audits.
• Perform year-end reconciliations and close financial records.

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Excellent communication skills (French and English a must) for interacting with tenants, vendors, and management.
• Hands on personality
