You will be joining a well‑established construction organization with a strong presence in the Canadian market, recognized for delivering complex commercial and institutional projects. Your new role
In the role of Project Manager, Commercial & Institutional, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of mid‑to‑large scale commercial and institutional projects from early planning and pre‑construction through to execution and close‑out.
You will lead projects delivered through Construction Management, providing input during design development, constructability reviews, estimating, and risk assessment, before transitioning projects to fixed‑price contracts. Throughout construction, you will manage budgets, schedules, procurement, contract administration, and project controls to ensure delivery objectives are met.
This position also carries a strong leadership component. You will mentor and support project managers, coordinators, and site teams, while maintaining productive relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors. You will contribute to continuous improvement across safety practices, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with a General Contractor on commercial or institutional projects
- At least 3 years in a Project Manager capacity leading mid‑to‑large construction projects
- Demonstrated experience managing projects from design development through to completion
- Proven experience delivering Construction Management projects and converting to stipulated‑sum contracts (CCDC 5A/5B to CCDC 2)
- Strong understanding of CM delivery methodologies and project controls
- Experience with budgeting and estimating at Class D, Class B, and Tender stages
- Solid tendering, procurement, subcontractor buyout, and change management experience
- Strong risk identification, mitigation, and tender recap capabilities
- Proficiency with MS Project, scheduling, site logistics, and construction methodology development
- Strong forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting skills
- Technical diploma (CET) or equivalent practical construction experience
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to split time between office and project sites
