Hays Specialist Recruitment is partnering with a leading organization in the energy sector to hire an Intermediate Project Manager for a long-term contract. This opportunity sits within a facilities integrity and capital projects team supporting critical infrastructure across Canada. You will join a collaborative and safety-focused environment, contributing to the planning and execution of regulated programs that ensure reliable and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee General Plant Maintenance Capital (GPMC) projects related to process safety-critical equipment
- Plan, organize, and execute facilities integrity and maintenance programs across pipeline systems
- Establish project schedules and cost forecasts in collaboration with project controls teams
- Monitor project execution to ensure alignment with regulatory and corporate requirements
- Direct and coordinate the work of external consultants, contractors, and vendors
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, engineering, and commercial teams to drive project success
- Optimize allocation of field resources to support efficient project execution
- Analyze program data to identify opportunities for cost savings and data integrity improvements
- Support the development and enhancement of project management tools, processes, and standards
- Provide regular updates and reporting to leadership on project progress, risks, and outcomes
What You Need to Succeed
- Minimum 3+ years of project management experience, ideally within infrastructure, energy, or industrial environments
- Solid understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and lifecycle processes
- Experience managing capital or maintenance-related projects
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel (~25%) for site visits, meetings, and training
Nice to Have
- University degree, technical diploma, or formal project management training/certification
- Experience in the energy, pipeline, or facilities integrity space
- Exposure to regulated environments and compliance-driven projects
- Experience supporting process improvements or project management frameworks
