We're seeking an Operations Manager in Ottawa.

We're seeking a turnkey Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a large-scale commercial property in the Ottawa area. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with building technical systems, facilities management, and unionized environments. This is a critical leadership role that requires strong communication skills and a resilient, people-first personality.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the property's daily operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment.
  • Manage two direct reports (Maintenance Supervisor and Operations Supervisor) and nine indirect reports, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Supervise the central plant system, including chillers and boilers, and other critical HVAC and building technical systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external partners, including contractors and vendors, ensuring service level agreements are met.
  • Manage tenant and stakeholder relations, addressing business and human needs with a balanced and professional approach.
  • Lead union negotiations and manage union relations, specifically with maintenance and HVAC unions.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar Operations Manager role within a commercial setting.
  • Proven expertise in facilities management and the maintenance of complex building technical systems, including HVAC.
  • Demonstrated experience managing in a unionized environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to navigate complex situations without taking things personally.
  • A proactive and autonomous work style, ready to hit the ground running without extensive training.
  • Knowledge of the Ottawa market is a plus.


Compensation & Benefits


  • Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
  • Bonus: Eligible for a performance-based bonus
