Your new role
As a Mechanical Estimator – Nuclear, you will play a key role in the Estimating – Nuclear department, reporting to the Director of Nuclear Proposals & Estimating. You’ll be responsible for preparing and delivering detailed and compliant construction cost estimates for nuclear and heavy industrial projects. This includes developing execution plans, identifying project risks, and compiling labor, material, and equipment costs. You’ll work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure accurate and competitive bids, while also participating in site visits and walkdowns to understand project scope.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing technical documentation and drawings
  • Creating construction methodologies and estimate summaries
  • Utilizing estimating software (e.g., Ineight Estimate, Excel, OST Pro, Bluebeam)
  • Supporting proposal development and attending approval meetings
  • Maintaining historical cost databases and vendor information

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
  • A minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in large capital industrial or nuclear projects
  • At least 5 years of direct field construction experience
  • A background in Boilermaking, Ironworking, or Millwrighting
  • Certification in Construction Engineering Technology, a relevant trade, or Gold Seal (Estimating)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with unionized trade agreements and subcontracting processes
  • Eligibility for CSIS Site Access Security Clearance
  • Willingness to travel, including potential trips to the U.S.
