Our client is a well-established manufacturer and has a new job open for Capital Equipment Project Manager to be part of their plant expansion plans. The job will be fully responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, of the new production line, managing and maintaining project milestones and overseeing external contractors, fabricators, vendors, equipment manufacturers to ensure project deliverables on time and on budget. The role is based in Barrie – New Market – Orillia, ON area and will need 5 days on site. This is a newly created position. This is a dusty manufacturing environment, and the job will require working close to production.
The Manufacturing Capital Equipment Project Manager will be fully responsible for planning, budgeting the project timelines for installation, commissioning, testing of the new production line and final hand over to production. You will work closely with external contractors, vendors, installers, fabricators to ensure as per spec installation. You will be responsible for ordering supplies — materials, parts etc. to facilitate installation and commissioning and maintain all milestones of the cost. You will create process flows, SOPs and work internally with Maintenance to ensure smooth production is possible as the expansion project moves along. You will be responsible for full life cycle project management of the line installation project.
The Manufacturing Capital Equipment Project Manager will ideally have a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5–7 years in capital installation project management (heavy industrial – building products, aggregates, cement, gravel and similar manufacturing). Full-cycle project management experience is a MUST. Working with vendors, OEM, contractors and managing the project milestones, working close to senior leadership to be able to make presentation on status, budgets, and timeline is a MUST.
