Your new role

• The role will include elements of technical design, client interaction, working on more than one project at a time, compliance with deliverables, meeting timelines, and working within project budgets.
  It is expected that the resource will perform designs, manage a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to deliver projects, and work closely with clients, stakeholders, and senior staff to execute projects from inception through permit, tender, and services during construction to completion.
• The candidate must have direct experience on high‑rise and low‑rise multi‑unit residential buildings, including wood‑frame and concrete construction. There is no appetite to transition or retrain engineers whose background is primarily commercial, institutional, or industrial.
• Strong systems experience is required across plumbing, ventilation/HVAC, and sprinkler/fire protection systems. Direct sprinkler design experience is preferred. However, strong coordination exposure with fire protection consultants is acceptable.
• The successful candidate must already be fluent in residential mechanical design, including mechanical room layout, unit sizing, and load familiarity with suite size and typology. A clear and established understanding of the difference between residential and commercial design logic is mandatory. Residential loads are predictable and standardized, while commercial spaces are variable and follow a different design approach; candidates must already understand this distinction without the need for training.
