Due to continued growth within its Litigation Group, the firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join its dynamic team.


Your new role

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to busy litigators handling a variety of civil and commercial litigation matters. Working closely with lawyers, clients, court staff, and external stakeholders, you will play a critical role in ensuring files are managed efficiently and deadlines are consistently met.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparing, drafting, revising, and formatting legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, motion materials, and court filings.
  • Managing litigation files from opening through to resolution.
  • Coordinating discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, hearings, motions, and trials.
  • Maintaining lawyers' calendars and managing critical deadlines.
  • Preparing and filing documents through the Ontario Courts' electronic filing systems.
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, experts, court offices, and third-party service providers.
  • Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic file materials.
  • Reviewing documents for accuracy, formatting, and compliance with court requirements.
  • Monitoring limitation periods and ensuring adherence to the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Providing general administrative and litigation support as required.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • A Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent education.
  • A minimum of 3 years of litigation legal assistant experience within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Experience supporting lawyers in civil and/or commercial litigation matters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience with document management software and electronic court filing platforms.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A professional, client-service-oriented approach and a collaborative mindset.
