Your new role

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting lawyers and law clerks across commercial, civil, and estates litigation matters. You’ll manage a wide range of administrative and legal tasks to ensure files move efficiently and clients receive timely, high‑quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide general administrative support, including scanning, filing, scheduling, photocopying, and coordinating appointments.
  • Assist with accounting-related tasks such as opening/closing files, docketing, and billing.
  • Draft, edit, and prepare correspondence, reports, retainers, memoranda, and legal documentation.
  • Maintain and monitor calendars, key dates, and deadlines for legal teams.
  • Answer and screen phone calls, providing information and routing inquiries as needed.
  • Prepare, collate, and organize litigation materials (e.g., Statements of Claim/Defence, Motion Records, Mediation Briefs, Pretrial Briefs, Affidavits of Documents, Trial Records, Factums).
  • Ensure complete and accurate filing of all legal documents.
  • Support other administrative or legal tasks as assigned.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Community College Diploma or equivalent; Legal Assistant or Law Clerk certification (or progress toward it) preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a litigation environment.
  • Strong understanding of civil litigation, estates litigation, and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Proficiency with legal software such as iManage, BundleDocs, Microsoft Office Suite, and related tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Professional, client‑oriented communication style.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Availability for overtime when required.
