Your new role
As an Associate Lawyer practicing litigation, you will be working under two of the partners at the firm leading the litigation portion of the business. Their focus includes civil, commercial, and estate litigation as well as employment law. The partners have a combined 20 years of experience and are looking for someone to join them in helping to lead the litigation law practice into a thriving and successful future.
- Independently manage a diverse caseload across civil, commercial, estate, and employment litigation
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, factums, settlement agreements, and employment contracts.
- Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients in mediation and collaborative law settings
- Advise individuals and corporate clients on legal risks, dispute resolution options, and litigation strategy
- Lead negotiations in commercial contract disputes, wrongful dismissal claims, and estate settlements
- Track your billable time (1200 hour target)
What you'll need to succeed
- 3 or more years into call practicing civil, commercial, or estate litigation
- Strong drafting experience (pleadings, affidavits, factums, settlement agreements)
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Business development-minded individual who wants to continue to grow this litigation law practice
- Strong analytical skills with excellent oral and written communication
- Desire to gain court experience
What you'll get in return
- $90,000 - $110,000 Base Salary
- Additional profit sharing of 40% above collection targets.
- Benefits package through Sunlife that covers Health and Dental up to 80%
- 2 days WFH (as the business allows for it) following a 3-month probation (5 days a week)
- Legal support of litigation law clerk of your choosing when hired
