Our client is 100% tariff-free and is well-established in the design, engineering and manufacturing of innovative machine parts and equipment solutions for several industries like mining, water/ wastewater and the heavy equipment industry. They design and manufacture custom-engineered mechanical machine parts in-house and have a job open for Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to be based in the Brampton-Mississauga, ON area. The job is responsible for the sign-off and Seal all the engineering specifications, design, calculations, selection of components and parts, ensuring design compliance with customer and the regulatory requirements compliance requirements, producing shop drawings for custom parts for specialty equipment for wastewater treatment, filtration and piping.

The lead Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for design, calculations, sign-off and seal of the Engineering drawings for custom-built parts (pipes, nozzles, plumbing components and similar). You will work closely with the customer’s requirements for specialty metal parts, tooling, piping, fixtures, plumbing and similar and be working with project management on innovative new design and reverse engineering design-built projects. You will review bids and proposals, attend design meetings with customers and other stakeholders, work closely with engineering and in-house production to ensure all designs are manufactured as per spec. You will ensure Bills of Materials (BOM) is as per spec and work closely with the fabrication shop. You will make recommendations to reduce scarp, remain on top of technology, materials for stainless steel parts used in piping, plumbing and similar. This is a very fast-paced entrepreneurial, custom-built fabrication shop with drafters and design engineers creating drawings from scratch in 1–2 days for the successful estimation and quote process.

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will be a Licensed Mechanical Professional Engineer (P. Eng - MUST) in Ontario and preferably in other provinces with a minimum of 10 years of design build engineering experience of custom-built heavy industrial equipment / machine parts with 5+ years in designing plumbing, piping and similar. Experience and knowledge of pipe thread, diameters, thickness and similar is a MUST. You will have good commercial awareness of materials wastage, efficient production processes, modern technology and experienced working with project managers and Sales in a very collaborative team environment. Minimum 5–8 years of experience in
precision custom-made mechanical drafting for piping / filtration/ water treatment types of parts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD; creating drawings from scratch for custom-manufactured parts ideally using Stainless Steel, Sheet Metal, Bending, Forming; metal fabrication, ideally stainless steel. Mechanical Engineering degree / diploma, excellent skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is a MUST. Ability to work with fabricators and welders is a MUST; excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with quick deadlines for drawings is a MUST.
