Join a premier downtown Toronto law firm widely regarded as a market leader in restructuring and insolvency, with multiple partners consistently recognized as top practitioners in this field. Known for its sophisticated, precedent‑setting work and its collaborative culture, the firm offers exceptional opportunities for long-term career advancement. As part of the continued growth of its restructuring and insolvency litigation team, the firm is seeking a seasoned Litigation Law Clerk motivated by both complex file work and future leadership potential—including a defined path toward a Team Lead role.

Your new role
In this role, you will support a team of 4–6 lawyers dedicated to a major institutional client with a heavy restructuring and insolvency litigation focus. You will also collaborate closely with Practice Assistants who support the same group, ensuring seamless coordination and timely delivery of work.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing litigation steps within complex restructuring and insolvency matters
  • Preparing and organizing court materials, pleadings, affidavits of documents, and productions
  • Supporting motions, applications, and hearings related to insolvency proceedings
  • Coordinating with clients, monitors, trustees, and external stakeholders
  • Assisting with research, trial prep, and detailed timelines
  • Helping to mentor junior team members and improving internal processes, with the long-term aim of moving into a team lead capacity
This is a hybrid role with 3 in-office days per week.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 5+ years of experience specifically in restructuring and insolvency litigation
  • Proven ability to manage sophisticated, fast-paced litigation files independently
  • Strong familiarity with insolvency court processes, filings, and timelines
  • Excellent file management skills and comfort working with multiple lawyers simultaneously
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a strong commitment to client service
  • An interest in leadership, mentorship, and developing into a future team lead
  • Ability to meet a 1200-hour billable target

What you'll get in return

  • Base salary: $100,000–$125,000, depending on experience
  • Discretionary bonus eligibility
  • RRSP matching up to 4%
  • 8 personal/sick days in addition to standard vacation
  • A clear, supported pathway toward a Team Lead role
  • Exposure to market-leading restructuring and insolvency work alongside five nationally recognized partners
  • Hybrid flexibility with 3 days per week in-office
  • A supportive, stable environment with a strong team culture
