Litigation Law Clerk

Your new company

A well-established and dynamic law firm headquartered in Toronto has expanded in Ottawa and is seeking a dedicated Law Clerk to join their growing team. Known for their commitment to employee satisfaction, empathy, and impactful legal service, this firm fosters a collaborative and respectful workplace culture that values innovation and professional growth.

Your new role

As a Law Clerk, you will play a vital support role assisting 3 Associate Lawyers with legal documentation, client communication, and file management. With an annual billable target of just 795, your bonus eligibility is more than achievable.

Your responsibilities will include drafting and revising legal documents (such as Applications, Separation Agreements, and Financial Statements), managing client files, coordinating with clients and external parties, scheduling court dates and meetings, and ensuring deadlines are met. You’ll also be responsible for accurate time docketing and billing using legal software.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you should have, above all else, an interest in family law (if coming from a civil or commercial litigation practice).

In addition, we're looking for:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting a litigation-focused legal practice (family law experience is a strong asset but not required)
  • ILCO certification or an LSO-approved paralegal license (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Family Law Rules and court processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with legal software (Clio and DivorceMate are assets)
  • A proactive, adaptable, and collaborative mindset

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary ranging between $50,000-75,000
  • Extended health, dental, and mental health benefits
  • Flexible work arrangements (hybrid)
  • Performance bonuses
  • Support for professional development, including CPD reimbursement
  • Coverage of ILCO membership or LSO paralegal license fees
