Your new role
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss and balance sheets
- Assisting with month-end and year-end journal entries
- Performing bank reconciliations and managing banking transactions
- Maintaining general ledger and working paper files for all properties
- Preparing management accounts and supporting documentation
- Ensuring internal controls are upheld and sensitive information remains confidential
- Managing compliance with financial reporting requirements
- Calculating and preparing tax payments
- Reviewing and maintaining job cost accounting for projects
- Assisting in the preparation of project and operational budgets
- Developing cash flow projections and financial forecasts
- Collaborating with external accountants on year-end files for corporations and partnerships
- Supporting other property accountants and clerks as needed
- Contributing to a collaborative office environment by assisting team members across departments
What you'll need to succeed
- A degree in accounting or a related field, with progress toward an accounting designation.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within real estate or property management.
- Strong understanding of ASPE (and IFRS is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with accounting software like Spectra and Yardi.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- A high level of accuracy, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
