Human Resource Generalist
Your new company
Hays Recruitment has partnered up with a not-for-profit organization in Vancouver. We are looking for a HR Generalist to join their team immediately, for a 3 month contract, with potential to become permanent. This is a full time role, Monday to Friday, and you can work on a Hybrid schedule
Your new role
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Lead smooth onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, orientation, training, and equipment returns.
- Conduct onboarding check‑ins and exit interviews; report insights to leadership.
Culture & Employee Experience
- Develop programs that enhance morale, engagement, and retention.
- Run engagement surveys and support recognition initiatives, events, and team‑building activities.
- Address employee concerns and support a positive workplace culture.
Performance Management & Compensation
- Support managers with goal setting, evaluations, and development plans.
- Assist the CFAO with market analysis for compensation reviews and support development of a job competency framework.
HRIS (Humi)
- Maintain accurate employee data and system workflows.
- Train employees and managers on HRIS use and support new feature testing.
Health & Safety
- Implement health and safety policies and procedures.
- Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee and emergency preparedness activities.
- Provide training on safety best practices.
Programs & HR Initiatives
- Lead annual HR projects; evaluate and improve HR programs.
- Collaborate with other departments to align HR initiatives with organizational goals.
Management Training & Support
- Deliver training for managers on HR policies and best practices.
- Provide guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Coordinate leadership development programs.
HR Policy Development
- Develop and update HR policies to ensure compliance with BC employment regulations.
- Advise leadership on policy and regulatory requirements.
Payroll & Benefits
- Process bi‑weekly payroll and maintain accurate records.
- Administer employee benefits programs.
- Support employees with payroll and benefits inquiries.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related education and work experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in human resources
- Experience processing payroll
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Previous experience in HRIS, (HUMI would be an asset) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certification in Human Resources (e.g., CPHR, CHRP, PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus
