Hays Civil Construction team in Toronto has partnered with our client to hire a Project Manager – Heavy Civil.

Your new Role

The Civil Project Manager is responsible for the overall delivery of the assigned construction project. This role is responsible for the financial performance of the project, maintaining the project schedule, ensuring quality and safety. The day-to-day will consist of the following: manages projects to ensure they are constructed according to design, budget, and schedule; monitors project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, workforce, materials, equipment maintenance, safety, and quality control; negotiates and issues subcontracts, major purchase orders, and progress payments, and monitors their progress and schedule; Interfaces with the project team, subcontractors, and related third parties; Monitors and inspects project site to maintain a safe work environment and provides leadership to ensure policies, procedures, and standards are followed; Provides technical expertise. Supervises, provides guidance and assesses the performance of direct reports and other team members; Meets with owners and consultants; oversees project closeouts; Identifies and manages risk and opportunities on construction projects.

What you’ll need to Succeed

To succeed as the Civil Project Manager, you will bring a bachelors degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management or related. A P. Eng or C.E.T is considered an asset. You will bring 8+ years’ experience in Civil Construction, with established experience as a Project Manager. You will bring established experience in heavy civil projects; road and bridge construction; and/ or experience focused in sewer and water main construction. If you have experience in AFP/ P3 Design-build projects, this is an asset. In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law, and building codes. Expert understanding of OPSS. Estimating experience in the construction industry. Experience in managing all aspects of road building, asphalt and construction projects. You are results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment. You are a fantastic communicator and have good interpersonal skills. You can prioritize and manage competing priorities and demonstrate versatility in overcoming challenges.
