Financial Controller - Barrie, ON

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee and ensure accurate preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and cash flow reports.
  • Maintain financial controls and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and manage accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Payroll & Accounts Receivable and Payable Processing
  • Oversee and process Corporate business biweekly payroll processing for approximately 230 employees, related remittances and annual payroll reporting requirements (ie. T4s, related filings) and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and tenant transactions.
  • Resolve financial discrepancies and ensure compliance with payroll regulations.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Responsible for the overall planning and completion, and quality assurance of the annual budget process for residential, commercial and corporate business divisions, including consolidated budgets for each division
  • Develop, review, and finalize MIT budgets and annual adjustments.
  • Track financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
Audit & Compliance

  • Prepare financial statements and documentation for external audits.
  • Oversee and ensure adherence and accurate filing of WSIB, HST, and other tax compliance requirements.
  • Maintain clean audit results by implementing robust financial controls.
