Hiring a Financial Analyst for a 6-Month contract in Calgary

Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a crown corporation based in Alberta. We are currently hiring a financial analyst to join their team on a 6-month contract basis, which has the possibility of extension. This candidate will be required to work on a hybrid working model based out of either Calgary or Edmonton.

Your new role

Join a dynamic team as a Financial Analyst, supporting daily operations related to private investment transactions. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate settlement, reporting, and reconciliation of complex financial instruments. The role involves reviewing financial reports, updating valuations, preparing statements, and identifying opportunities to streamline workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and record private investment transactions (capital calls, distributions, income/expenses)
  • Collaborate with internal teams on investment setup, documentation, and settlements
  • Perform reconciliations and review financial reports from external parties
  • Update fund valuations and support quarterly reporting
  • Prepare financial statements and respond to inquiries from stakeholders

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance
  • Strong Excel skills and experience handling large datasets
  • Solid understanding of IFRS or US GAAP
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and deliver insights
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis (CPA designation or in progress is a plus)
