Family Law Associate, Downtown Toronto

Your new company

Join a highly respected boutique family law firm known for its supportive culture, exceptional mentorship, and genuine commitment to helping lawyers build long, fulfilling careers. This firm is dedicated to developing its people—whether your passion is advocacy, drafting, strategy, or appearing in court, there is a place for you to thrive.
You’ll work closely with an experienced Partner who is invested in your growth, ensuring you receive meaningful mentorship, hands‑on training, and ongoing career development opportunities. With flexible working arrangements, no billable target, and a strong emphasis on work‑life balance, this is a rare opportunity for a family law lawyer seeking both professional advancement and workplace wellbeing.

Your new role

As a Family Law Associate with 2–6 years of experience, you will work exclusively on private client matters and be integrated into a busy, sophisticated family law practice. Your work will be tailored to your strengths and interests—you may argue motions, run smaller matters independently, participate in mediations and arbitrations, or focus on research and drafting behind the scenes.
You’ll be paired with a Partner who will ensure you receive the right level of mentorship, exposure, and support. This role is ideal for someone who wants high‑quality files, meaningful courtroom experience (if desired), and an environment that emphasizes professional development over billable pressure.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing private family law files with Partner oversight
  • Drafting pleadings, affidavits, and detailed financial and legal analyses
  • Attending court, mediations, and arbitrations (to the degree you prefer)
  • Conducting legal research and preparing persuasive written materials
  • Supporting strategic decision‑making in active matters
  • Contributing to a collaborative, team‑oriented culture
This position offers hybrid work, flexible hours, and a competitive compensation range of $120,000–$170,000, plus discretionary bonus.

  • A highly competitive salary of $130,000–$180,000, plus discretionary bonus
  • No billable target—a rare and meaningful benefit
