Electrical Estimator

About the Company
Our client is a well-established and growing electrical contractor serving the Lower Mainland. They specialize in commercial tenant improvements, new construction, and EV infrastructure, and are known for their high-quality workmanship, innovative approach, and collaborative team culture. As their project portfolio continues to expand, they are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join their team and contribute to their continued success.

About the Role
This is a key role within the pre-construction team, offering the chance to work directly with senior leadership, including a personable and creative Senior Estimator who values collaboration and enjoys exploring new ideas. While the role is primarily office-based, hybrid flexibility is available after training, depending on project needs and team discretion. As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial electrical projects, typically valued up to $10 million. Your work will directly impact the company’s ability to secure new business and maintain its reputation for excellence. You will be expected to bring a high level of precision, organization, and communication to every project you touch.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Preparing detailed cost estimates that include materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope and pricing strategies.
  • Utilizing estimating software such as
    Accubid, Bluebeam, and LiveCount
to produce professional and competitive bids.
  • Attending site walks, pre-bid meetings, and tender reviews as needed to ensure a full understanding of project requirements.
  • Coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Leading bid closings and ensuring timely submission of estimates.
  • Supporting the transition of awarded projects to the operations team, ensuring scope, budget, and logistics are clearly communicated.
  • Assisting with pricing for change orders and contributing to cost control efforts during project execution.
  • Maintaining and updating historical cost data and supplier pricing to improve future estimating accuracy.
  • Staying informed on market trends, industry developments, and changes to relevant codes and regulations.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
The ideal candidate will have between two to five years of experience in electrical estimating or a related role within the construction industry. You should have a strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to interpret technical drawings and documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, and LiveCount is essential. You should be highly organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills are important, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred. A Red Seal Electrician certification would be considered a strong asset.

What You’ll Receive in Return
This role offers a competitive compensation package up to $110,000 designed to reward performance and support your professional growth. You’ll receive a base salary along with performance-based bonuses tied to estimates won and overall company success. Additional benefits include:
  • A vehicle allowance and gas card
  • Extended health and dental coverage
  • Disability and life insurance
  • RRSP matching up to 4%
  • Tuition and course reimbursement for professional development
  • Free office parking
  • Regular team-building events and company socials
  • Opportunities to work on high-profile commercial projects across BC
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment with clear pathways for advancement

This is a full-time, salaried position with a Monday to Friday schedule. Hybrid flexibility is available after training, based on project requirements and team discretion.
