Director, Facilities & Asset Management | Calgary Drop-In

Your New Company
Join the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre (DI), a mission-driven organization dedicated to ending homelessness one person at a time. More than an emergency shelter, the DI provides housing, health, and recovery services through a holistic, trauma-informed approach. With seven facilities and three mixed-market apartment buildings, the DI offers a collaborative environment where respect, kindness, and accountability guide everything we do. You’ll report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and lead a team committed to creating safe, dignified, and sustainable spaces for Calgary’s most vulnerable citizens.

Your New Role
As the Director of Facilities & Asset Management, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership for the DI’s real estate portfolio. This includes overseeing three mixed-market apartment buildings and seven facilities that support residential and programmatic functions. You’ll develop and execute long-term real estate strategies, lead capital planning, and manage building operations, property management, maintenance, and custodial services.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Driving strategic real estate planning, acquisitions, and capital projects.
  • Managing rental strategies to balance financial sustainability with community benefit.
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance programs, emergency response procedures, and vendor contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and accessibility standards.
  • Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team while fostering a culture of accountability and service excellence.
This is a full-time role (40 hours/week), primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility for organizational needs.

What You Need to Succeed
You bring:
  • 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in property, facilities, or asset management, ideally in the nonprofit, housing, or public sectors.
  • Expertise in managing multi-site portfolios, 10-year capital planning, and operational budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, housing regulations, and landlord-tenant legislation in Alberta.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to balance social mission objectives with operational realities.
  • A commitment to equity, sustainability, and community well-being.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.

What You Get in Return
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Employer-paid extended health and dental coverage.
  • Industry-leading vacation, sick, and wellness days.
  • Industry-leading employer matching RRSP program.
  • Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment coverage.
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
  • Long-term disability and critical illness insurance (employee-paid, mandatory).

A values-driven culture focused on respect, kindness, community, wellness, and accountability.
You’ll join a values-driven organization where respect, kindness, and community are at the heart of everything we do. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact while leading a team in one of Calgary’s most purpose-driven environments.
