The team is growing and seeking a motivated Controls and Building Automation Engineer to support design, programming, and commissioning of HVAC control systems, particularly in healthcare and datacenter environments.
Your new role
Reporting to the Engineering and Technology department, the Controls Engineer will support the project lifecycle initiatives—from early-stage site visits, design development to on-site execution and commissioning. The successful candidate will work closely with its own department, the Project Management Office and provide feedback to Sales along with the external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects aligned with contractual obligations, technical specifications and customer goals.
- Perform initial site visits with the sales team to do a handover to analyze site condition to lead into the design phase of the project.
- Liaise with internal departments and clients to establish project timelines, deliverables, and execution plans.
- Provide regular updates on project status and resolve project-related issues proactively.
- Handle site coordination and take ownership of the technical and execution aspects of projects.
- Work within the established hours set for the project
- Facilitate coordination between the electrical team and lead commissioning meetings on behalf of Olympic Controls (OC).
- Develop and manage electrical deficiencies lists with the foreman, ensuring readiness before subsequent site visits.
- Program, configure, and commission DDC and building automation control systems.
- Perform hands-on implementation of including controllers and system integration and work with other vendors of system start-ups.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC controls, service retrofits, or building automation.
- Demonstrated ability to program and commission DDC systems (e.g., Tridium/Niagara, Distech, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Siemens, etc.).
- Solid understanding of HVAC mechanical systems, building operations, and controls theory.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communicator with clients, team members, and leadership.
- Self-driven and capable of working independently or in team settings.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
