Controller Role in Real Estate – Lead with Impact

Your new role

The company is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join its finance team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing financial operations across multiple development projects, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning.


  • Prepare year-end working papers and assist with financial consolidation
  • Manage monthly loan draws and reporting to financial institutions
  • Generate project cost reports and perform budget vs. actual analysis
  • Oversee cash management and conduct monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP/AR, GST, WCB, T4s, and T5s
  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow forecasting
  • Handle tax filings for bare trusts, dormant entities, and partnerships

What you'll need to succeed

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) required
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in real estate development
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong understanding of project-based accounting and cost control
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
