About the role:
As a member of the Supply Chain Management team, the Contract Specialist supports day-to-day market testing initiatives, contract formation, administration, and compliance activities for materials, equipment, and services across the organization's Canadian operations. You ensure contractual commitments are executed accurately, supplier performance is recorded, and all documentation is maintained in accordance with organizational policy and applicable legislation.

Supply Chain Commercial and Contractual mastery and advanced negotiation skills are essential to the role.

Travel is required amongst our active sites within the Elk Valley of British Columbia and Vancouver.
In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Develop and execute the end-to-end competitive bid process, including strategy development, evaluation of proposals, recommendation for awards, formation and administration of contracts.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions while maintaining positive supplier relationships
- Identify, implement, and report on opportunities to improve the cost and performance of suppliers
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to determine amendments, extensions, and compliance to contractual obligations, including KPIs.
- Coordinate with multiple stakeholders such as IT managers, teams, service fields, and corporate shared service groups regarding contract management strategies, options, and considerations throughout all stages of the contract lifecycle.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, processes, and work instructions
- Implement effective organizational change to ensure contract modifications are accurately evaluated, detailed, and approved
- Resolve issues that arise between suppliers and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Degree, diploma, certificate, or designation, such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or a similar program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five years of relevant experience, including strategy development, competitive sourcing, contract formation/execution, and negotiation of technology agreements, such as SaaS subscriptions, cloud services agreements, software license agreements (on-prem), statements of work, service level agreements, data processing/privacy addenda, and security exhibits.
- Excellent digital literacy and experience with Microsoft Office Suite®
- Ability to assist in the development and execution of supplier contract agreements and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Supply Chain or Purchasing related systems
- Valid Class 5 Drivers' License or equivalent
