Key responsibilities


  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership role in highway maintenance, heavy civil construction, or a related industry;
  • Completion of a degree or diploma in Engineering, Business Administration or Construction Management is required, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, build strong internal culture and implement succession and talent development plans;
  • Demonstrated experience in budget preparation, financial oversight, and cost control in a complex operational environment;
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement with government agencies, Indigenous communities, and external contractors;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data, apply insights to operations and strategy, and provide strategic innovative solutions;
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance processes, cycles, workflows, safety requirements (e.g. OH&S legislation), and quality standards (e.g. ISO);
  • Project management skills to oversee and manage multiple concurrent highway maintenance, bridge, and pavement marking contracts and projects;
  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents and ensure compliance to contract requirements;
  • Computer skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and relevant operational systems (e.g. GPS/AVLS systems, ERP software);
  • Strong knowledge of provincial highway maintenance contracts, specifications, and performance standards is an asset;
  • Proven ability to manage highway maintenance and construction operations (e.g. snow/ice control, bridge maintenance, pavement markings, pavement repair, etc.) is an asset; and,
