Hays has partnered with a professional consulting and engineering firm that has been around for 70+ years. They are located in downtown Toronto and service clients across the Greater Toronto Area. They have a focus on carbon emissions savings for Canadians.

Your new role

The open role is for a Construction Coordinator to join the team, reporting to and supporting the Site Construction Manager and Program Manager. They will help ensure building energy retrofit projects are executed in line with schedule and on budget and at the highest of quality standards. They will communicate extensively with internal team members and external engineers, owners, sub-trades and suppliers. Their main duty is site coordination of construction activities for the assigned projects, ensure all relevant subcontractor documents/submittals are in place prior to the start of work and identify any work that does not conform to specifications, and ensure that technical problems are resolved on a timely basis.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful Construction Coordinator candidate will have a minimum of 4 years construction experience as a project coordinator for a general contractor or consulting firm. They will have a diploma or an engineering degree in a related field and have experience with mechanical and/or electrical/controls systems. They will have experience working on large scale commercial or institutional projects with retrofit experience considered a definite asset. They must be an excellent communicator able to deal with internal and external stakeholders, with experience in negotiation, and conflict resolution. Finally, the construction coordinator must have access to a car, a valid driver's license and be able to pass a police clearance.

What you'll get in return
