HAYS Recruitment has partnered with a confidential client to find an experienced Building Operator
Our client, a leading real estate firm, seeks an experienced Building Operator to manage the maintenance and daily operations of commercial properties in the Ottawa area. This diverse portfolio includes industrial, office, retail, and mixed-use centres. The role demands a proactive approach, strong mechanical aptitude, and a focus on exceptional tenant service.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main contact, promptly responding to service requests, and maintaining a high standard for property appearance and safety.
- Conduct daily inspections, coordinate contractors (for HVAC, electrical, mechanical, etc.), implement repairs, and supervise all trades servicing the building systems.
- Assist in developing and implementing proactive preventative maintenance for all building equipment.
- Maintain all necessary logs, manuals, and records for both on-site operations and third-party contractors.
- Provide after-hours coverage on a rotational basis with other operators.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of related working experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude is required.
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working in varied conditions.
- Valid Class G driver's license.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must be self-motivated and effective working independently or in a team.
- Bilingualism (English & French) and industry designation(s) (BES and/or BOMI SMT/SMA) are highly valued.
- Clear police records check (company-paid).
