Hays Specialist Recruitment is partnering with a leading manufacturing organization to hire a Buyer for a full‑time, on‑site contract role with strong potential to transition into a permanent position. This opportunity is ideal for a procurement professional who excels in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys cross‑functional collaboration, and is motivated by cost‑savings, process improvements, and supply chain excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue RFQs and negotiate pricing with suppliers.
  • Administer monthly and annual budgets for assigned suppliers with a focus on cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders (SAP), expedite orders, and communicate delivery timelines to internal stakeholders.
  • Source and manage various commodities; develop RFPs, support supplier selection, and build supplier partnerships.
  • Perform timely material releases for production requirements.
  • Forecast and plan materials to support plant production.
  • Review purchase orders from customer service and confirm inventory availability.
  • Reconcile shipped and returned inventory.
  • Schedule and track incoming dry goods; coordinate with carriers and suppliers to ensure on‑time, in‑full delivery.
  • Collaborate with North American Supply Chain to secure cost‑effective freight options and ensure invoice accuracy.
  • Prepare and distribute shipping/customs documentation; trace, reconcile, and report discrepancies.
  • Facilitate freight claims and coordinate 3rd‑party service providers.
  • Identify ongoing cost‑saving opportunities and contribute to corporate cost‑reduction targets.
  • Provide backup support across Supply Chain functions as needed.
  • Support site‑wide compliance including health & safety, environmental, quality, and security protocols.

What You Need to Succeed
  • Minimum 4 years of Procurement/Supply Chain experience, ideally across multiple sites.
  • Post‑secondary education required.
  • Supply Chain / PMAC certification is an asset but not required.
  • SAP (ERP) experience — required.
  • Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and Salesforce — strong proficiency required.
  • Strong data literacy and ability to handle complex tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and strong follow‑through.
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities and work effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, strong problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Comfortable with a manufacturing environment requiring PPE and frequent physical tasks (walking, bending, reaching, etc.).
  • High tolerance for pressure, fast change, and multitasking.
