Hiring Building Operator for 6-Month Contract in Edmonton

A leading property management firm overseeing a diverse portfolio of commercial spaces. This role supports operations that are all on the same block next to each other in Edmonton.
Your new role
Building Operator
To join the team on a full-time basis. This position involves hands-on building operations and facilities maintenance across several nearby properties.
- Perform preventative and unscheduled maintenance on building systems
- Ensure optimal performance of mechanical/electrical equipment using system trend logs
- Monitor and manage computerized Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Respond to tenant service requests and oversee contractor work
- Conduct health & safety inspections and WHMIS compliance
- Participate in capital planning and budget preparation
- Troubleshoot automation interlocks, overrides, and operational issues
- Handle emergency callbacks, occasional shift coverage, and rotational on-call duties (every two weeks, up to 15 hrs OT; minimum 3 hrs paid per callout)
- Support risk management and operational reporting
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 3 years' experience in office/commercial/retail property operations (residential not applicable)
- Class 5 Power Engineering Certificate
Strongly preferred - Solid understanding of mechanical/electrical systems and equipment overrides
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, client-focused mindset
